Rev. Ayodele Ayeni, C.S.Sp., is a Catholic priest of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans)—a religious community renowned for its global commitment to education, justice, and advocacy for the marginalized. The Spiritan legal and social justice legacy traces back to the Congregation’s founder, François Claude Poullart des Places (1679–1709), himself a trained lawyer devoted to the defense of the poor and voiceless.

Carrying forward that same heritage, Rev. Ayeni’s vocation bridges faith, law, and service. As both a barrister and solicitor in Canada, he devotes his practice to immigration and refugee law, offering compassionate representation to newcomers and refugees navigating Canada’s legal system. His work often includes pro bono services for clients unable to afford counsel—reflecting his belief that justice is not a privilege but a right rooted in human dignity.

Beyond immigration advocacy, Rev. Ayeni assists individuals and families in Wills and Estate planning, ensuring that every person, regardless of means, can protect their legacy with dignity and peace of mind.

Education & Scholarship

Rev. Ayeni holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Université de Moncton, New Brunswick, and both ecclesiastical and civil doctorates from Ottawa, Canada. A respected academic, he has taught extensively in Canada and Nigeria, and is widely published in theology, law, and social ethics. His scholarship explores how faith and justice intersect in the defense of human rights and the pursuit of the common good.

Advocacy & Mission

In the Spiritan tradition, Rev. Ayeni views legal work as a ministry of service. Since the 1970s, Spiritans in Canada have championed the rights of refugees and immigrants—a mission he continues today through his Halifax-based practice. Whether assisting families seeking permanent residency, refugees in court, or individuals needing estate planning, his approach remains the same: listening deeply, advocating ethically, and serving with compassion.

Beyond the Courtroom

When not litigating or advising clients, Rev. Ayeni lectures internationally on the intersection of law, theology, and human dignity. His dual identity as priest and lawyer gives him a unique perspective: one that sees every legal challenge not merely as a case to win, but as a life to uplift and a story worth defending.

Faith. Justice. Humanity

For Rev. Ayodele Ayeni, law is more than a profession—it is an extension of his priestly vocation. His mission is simple yet profound: “To bring faith into law and justice into the lives of those who need it most.” He speaks English and French fluently.
